How to become a better human.

Image
We live in a world where it seems only the fittest of the fittest survive on the journey of life. As the world evolves and things and times change, fast. It seems our world is slowly losing its humanity. We don't need to look far to see the horrible effects of greed,  hatred, selfishness, and war. You may be wondering how you can make the world a better place. You can begin by being a better human.  Not just to people you've known all your life, but those you haven't had much contact with. These are 10 ways through which you can become a better human.  1. Put love into action.  Treat others the way you'd want to be treated. The same way that you wouldn't want others to trample your feelings and treat you as though you mean nothing to them. Give the love that you'd want for yourself. Show others that you truly care for them. Don't say one thing and mean the other. 2. Celebrate other people's success. Be happy for others when they are progressing in life

Things aren't always as they seem (Poem).

Should you tell a friend everything?

Image
"A friend today, could be an enemy tomorrow". A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.  Elbert Hubbard The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.  Bob Marley. Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you haven't learned anything.  Muhammad Ali I've witnessed the fall of a friendship recently, and when they spilled the beans things got ugly. They both said things they shouldn't have said, and the big question was. Were they ever friends? Many of us have either broken off friendships or witnessed other people who were no longer friends disclose things they've vowed to keep amongst themselves.  Should we tell our friends everything? If yes, what are your reasons for doing so? If not, what's your reason for not telling your friends everything? In forging friendships

As if I wasn't made to feel (Poem).

Image
Poem about feeling empty, broken, and alone inside.   Happiness never lingers here, Sheer joy and peace a chasm, As if I wasn't made to feel, The rapture of loving arms consoling me, Or the pitiful pleas of this world, Being so empty and broken without me. As if I wasn't made to feel, The bounties of endless love, Soothing this bleeding heart within me, As if I wasn't made to feel, Loved by those I've truly loved, With every fiber of my being. As if I wasn't made to feel,  Truth in the eyes of someone, Who's longing to come home to me, It's never a haven, If emptiness and sorrow dwells there,  These broken pieces of mine,  Are all I'm left to feel. How to stop trying to be liked by everyone.

Image
“You can’t please everyone, and you can’t make everyone like you.” - Katie Couric “If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.” - Margaret Thatcher “When you’re different, sometimes you don’t see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn’t.” - Jodi Picoult Imagine Sarah bought a hand-crafted gold necklace for her mother's birthday. As she anxiously presents her mother with the gift box. She whispers, ''I hope you like it.'' Today, many of us are like Sarah, anxiously hoping that others will like what we have to offer. We live in a social media era where likes and views for some people are the staff of life. Some have gone to the extreme of buying fake likes just to grab the attention of others and feel better about themselves. For those of us who aren't too much into social media, we still struggle with the want or need to be li

Do you know how to get what you want out of life?

Image
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  For many of us, it's easy to pinpoint all the things that we don't want out of life. The real challenge is working towards exactly what we want from life and achieving it. Life doesn't always steer us in the direction that we want it to go but the choices that we make or don't make do impact where we go, how far we go and the rewards we get from life. At this point in your life, can you honestly say that you have achieved any of the things that you have sought after in life? Or is it that you're still in the valley of decisions not knowing where to turn? You don't have to feel like a ship without a sail through life. Today I'll share with you a few tips that people who know what they want out of life do.  1. They have clear-cut goals.  People who know what they want out of life have clear-cut goals th

Why you shouldn't stop believing in yourself

Image
"Dreams are made when we put what we believe into action." A.Kinglock-Murray You may have heard many stories of others that either left you awestruck or had tears streaming down your face. We all have our stories to tell. Whichever way we want to tell them to the world. They can be just as impactful as everyone else's. I remember when I published my first book and shared the good news with my Facebook friends. One friend congratulated me and said who would have thought? In her eyes, she wouldn't have imagined that I could have published a book. Like that Facebook friend. Many people, including family have limited expectations of what they think you can do. They don't expect you to show up in certain places. They don't expect you to go above the average. They don't expect you to rise to your true potential. You're always somewhere in the corner of their minds; below their expectations. They wouldn't have thought of you as anything more than the or

How to get over letting yourself down

Image
We all have expectations that we require of ourselves. They may be challenging to varying degrees depending on what our goals are.  What seems like a major accomplishment for others, may very well be a major slip up for some of us.  There are times when we know we've completely missed the mark. During these moments we can become highly critical of ourselves. Instead of patting ourselves on the shoulder, we find ourselves spiraling downwards. Have you had moments where you felt that you didn't meet your expectations? Others may be proud of what you've done but you know deep within yourself that you were nowhere close to your best shot.  I've been there. Today, I want to share with you some tips that will help you to pull yourself up when you feel as if you've completely let yourself down. 1. You won't always be on your A-game. Life doesn't work on our terms. We don't always get to put things exactly where we want them to go. There will be times when it

Nothing lasts forever & other poems.

Image
Poem about not wanting to lose a loved one   I saw the weeping sky in its old dusty grey At the break of dawn's silver light, As the morning unfolded its lustrous wings, It waded in royal blue, Time changes fast, It hit a nerve,  It struck a chord, It rang a bell, Luminous thoughts of me and you, Nothing lasts forever, One not so glorious day,  Time will  rent the veil and   This bond that we've woven in love, Will break us free, I shed a hollow tear, As though the wells of my heart had dried up, Like the barren night without, The moon and stars to bear her light, A naked city stripped of her polished walls, I went out of my mind, Helter-skelter, Mourning the thought of losing you, Do we ever settle the score with death, Do we truly let those we love to go, My imagination bears a heavy burden, Filled with angst,  Of death ever choosing you, Don't we all carry bits and pieces,  Of those we've lost, Until we're strong enough to set ourselves free, Don't we somet

Live the life of your dreams (Poem)

Image
Poem about having hope and dreams: I couldn't live my life without a dream, I'd be a sepulcher filled with dried bones, A tiresome nomad in search of true north, A careless wave,  Traversing the wonders of the sea, I couldn't live my life without a dream, My existence would be purposeless, I'd feel wasted with every, Moving breath that sustains the life within me, Like a reed hugging the  mighty wind, Swaying wherever it goes, A lonely pollen searching to find a resting place, In meadows where beautiful flowers grow, The gloomy horizon without the blanket of the sun's glorious rays, I couldn't live my life without a dream, I'd be empty, Pure nothingness, A vast black hole, Fill my heart with hopes and dreams, An imagination unending, Without limits, Without obliteration, Every man was born to dream, Saddle my tears with determination, Clothe every fragile bone with courage, For the image of God, Kindles a fire within me, Dispelling  fears and doubt, Tell t

10 Signs your relationship is dying.

Image
Cheating, lying and abuse are usually the main players in the death of a relationship but other things like poor communication, immaturity, and incompatibility are just as bad. Sometimes the best option for both parties is to go their separate ways.  It takes teamwork to keep a relationship afloat. If all the effort is being put out by one person. It will feel strenuous and lopsided, and that person will become frustrated. Today, I'll share with you 10 signs that your relationship isn't going anywhere. These are things that I've learned while dating and after being married. 1. There's no good communication; you argue more than you talk. One of the signs of a healthy relationship is that you can have respectful and mature conversations with your partner. If you find that a simple discussion turns to shouting, swearing and name-calling it's a sign of poor communication. You should be able to have discussions without feeling that you're venturing down a dangerous
