Letting go and moving on in life quotes

How often have you heard the words, ''let go, and move on with your life?'' Every one of us at some point in our lifetime has had to either let go and move on from someone or something. It isn't always easy to just let go and move on. Especially situations that involve deep emotional pain like betrayal, disappointment, heartbreak, abuse, and death.  I believe that everyone should be allowed to heal at their own pace, even if the situation that they're in is one that we've experienced. It doesn't mean that because I overcame a situation within the shortest time it will be the same for someone else.

We are sometimes selfish in the way we relate to someone who is hurting. There are times when our first utterance isn't that of a compassionate nature, but rather us highlighting our strengths and what we would have done, had it been us in that situation. This does more harm than good to the person who is hurting and we too can delay their healing with the things that we say.

I remember hearing the story of a domestic violence survivor. She said the first time she opened up to a friend about being abused. The first words were, why did you stay so long? I would not have allowed that to happen to me. Her friend made her feel as though all that happened to her was entirely her fault because she had been in the situation for so long. What she would have wanted from her friend was a little emotional support or a few words of encouragement to say, I'm glad that you've finally found the strength to walk away.

If you know someone who's hurting over someone or something. As best as possible try to be compassionate toward the person. At the end of the day, they know what it is that they are going through. It doesn't matter if you've been there and done that. Respect the progress that they are making to heal their hurt.

Never compare your strengths to the way someone else is handling a situation. Don't belittle the progress that someone is making to get back on their feet. Healing is a journey and we all walk at a different pace.

“Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about someone anymore. It's just realizing that the only person you have control over is yourself.”

― Deborah Reber,

“If people refuse to look at you in a new light and they can only see you for what you were, only see you for the mistakes you've made, if they don't realize that you are not your mistakes, then they have to go.”

“What if you could pick one day of your life, and everything would stop changing, every day would be similar and comparable to that one day, you'd always have the same people with you? If you could do that, would you do it? Would you pick that day and make that choice? We crave for things to stop changing, we wish that things would never change. But if we got what we wanted, there are so many better things, that we would never, ever know about. Sure, things would stay the same as that one wonderful day, but then there would be nothing else out there, ever. So can you remember the very first day when everything did begin to change? Is there a thing that can remind you? Mine is a blue rose, and that's when everything began to change because that's the day I began to believe in things I never believed in before; the day I found three blue roses. Think about your first day of change, can you remember all the new heights you've soared since that day? All the new people? All the better things and times? Would you throw all of that time away? I wouldn't. Instead, I want to finally accept all the things that I couldn't change, which led to me being right here, right now. Maybe we all carry around inside us one day we wish we could keep forever, something we wished never did change. It's time to let go of that day, and soar.”
― C. JoyBell C.

“The only real battle in life is between hanging on and letting go.”
― Shannon L. Alder

“Are you going to allow the world around you to change while you remain stagnant? Make this the time you throw away old habits that have hindered your happiness and success and finally allow your greatest self to flourish.”

Your happiness means everything to me. I will listen to your voice in the distance. I will look at the moon. I will keep you in my pocket. I will carry your smile with me everywhere, like a warm and comforting glow.”
― Tabitha Suzuma

“I eventually came to understand that in harboring the anger, the bitterness and resentment towards those that had hurt me, I was giving the reins of control over to them. Forgiving was not about accepting their words and deeds. Forgiving was about letting go and moving on with my life. In doing so, I had finally set myself free.”
― Isabel Lopez

“Forget what hurt you in the past, but never forget what it taught you. However, if it taught you to hold onto grudges, seek revenge, not forgive or show compassion, categorize people as good or bad, to distrust and be guarded with your feelings then you didn’t learn a thing. God doesn’t bring you lessons to close your heart. He brings you lessons to open it, by developing compassion, learning to listen, seeking to understand instead of speculating, practicing empathy, and developing conflict resolution through communication. If he brought you perfect people, how would you ever learn to spiritually evolve?”
― Shannon L. Alder

“The secret to life is to have no fear. When you can let go of what others think about you, how something is going to turn out, or how your past will affect your future, then you are finally living life free.”
― Shannon L. Alder

“Nothing you love is left behind. You come back to it once you understand it, once you see its essence as it is: pure and flawless - once you refuse to define your life without it. Look into yourself. The only thing you regret in the end is falling for someone's definition of love instead of exploring its infinite potential. It is not saying "I love you" to people who should have heard it from you. There is no flaw in love.”
― Vladimira Chalyova

“It can be difficult to leave a long-term relationship, even when our inner-wisdom tells us it's time to let go. At this point, we can choose to let go and endure the intense pain of leaving behind the familiar to make way for a new chapter in our life. Or we can stay and suffer a low-grade pain that slowly eats away at our heart and soul, like emotional cancer. Until we wake up, one day and realize, we are buried so deep in the dysfunction of the relationship that we scarcely remember who we were and what we wanted and needed to be.”
― Jaeda DeWalt

“The more you talk about it, rehash it, rethink it, cross analyze it, debate it, respond to it, get paranoid about it, compete with it, complain about it, immortalize it, cry over it, kick it, defame it, stalk it, gossip about it, pray over it, put it down or dissect the motives it continues to rot in your brain. It is dead. It is over. It is gone. It is done. It is time to bury it because it is smelling up your life and no one wants to be near your rotted corpse of memories and decaying attitude. Be the funeral director of your life and bury that thing!”
― Shannon L. Alder

We’re so caught up in our everyday lives that events of the past are no longer in orbit around our minds. There are just too many things we have to think about every day, too many new things we have to learn. But still, no matter how much time passes, no matter what takes place in the interim, there are some things we can never assign to oblivion, memories we can never rub away. They remain with us forever, like a touchstone.”
