Poems about prayer.

The best person to pray over your soul is you. How often do you pray for yourself? How often do you pour out your heart to God, unashamed? You don't need to cover up anything. He already knows everything about you. Every good and evil deed. He knows that which you have been struggling with. He knows that secret thing that you've been doing for a long time.  I remember my co-worker had asked me to pray for her. I suppose she thought that because I was a Christian God would hear me and not her, but that isn't so. Her prayer is just as effective as mine. We're all sinners saved by grace and God knows our hearts. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:17.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; Even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. For thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.  Psalm 139:7-14

“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:5-7

In the dungeon of the night
I lay my wretched soul,
Bare before its maker, unshamed
Revealing all the deeds I've done
In spirit and flesh
Pleading his mercies
For before His eyes
There is no condemnation
And my darkest secrets
Are as daylight.
